TEETH CLEANING
Dental care is just as important for your puppy as it would be for you. These days it is quite easy to take care of your puppies/dogs teeth. First you can try the natural way by giving your dog a knuckle or brisket bone to chew on. Secondly a nice dried cow hoof will be quite enjoyable if after all that your puppies teeth don't seem clean then try some of the many tooth brushes and pastes available for dogs in flavour that dogs prefer such as beef, chicken or liver these are available from your pet store online or locally or from your vet You can also use baking soda in very small amounts. Please never use human tooth -past on your dog, human tooth paste contain a product called Xylitol a sweetening agent that is toxic to dogs, this can make your dog very sick.
Remember if you don't clean your dog’s teeth who will? Help your friend retain that lovely white smile and stay healthy bad teeth can cause many different health hazards.
Keeping nail short is very important for many reasons. Besides it is very uncomfortable for your dog if the nail’s are to long.
Sometimes it make it a little easier to cut the nail while you are bathing your dog so that the nails are nice and soft.
If you are not sure of yourself and do not know how to cut nail, file your dog’s nail a little bit every time, after combing and brushing using a normal nail file. This will help keep the nails down .
EAR CLEANING
A dog’s ears should be cleaned once a week this should be part of the grooming routine, with the use of a good ear cleanser which you can mix yourself 25 % Glycerine and 75% alcohol mixed in a small Eye-dropper bottle, available from your chemist or Pharmacy. When cleaning your dog’s ears drop about 10 drops into your dog’s ear then massage the bottom of the ears for about 30 seconds. After that, allow your puppy to shake it out from his ears. Gently wipe off the remaining solution and residual wax from the ear canal with a cotton ball. Take care not to poke anything into the puppy’s / dogs ear. Only use Q-tips to clean the very outside of the ears if necessary.
This cleaner can also be dropped into your dog’s ear just before you give him or her, a bath so that if a little bit of water gets into the ears the alcohol in the drops will dry the water up and the Glycerine will soothe it.
